Kettle & Cake's story began as a pipe dream. Unable to find the perfect location or premises to open a tea shop and not wanting to wait any longer, husband and wife team, Pat and Helen decided to bring the dream to life and create their own!

Pat who can turn his hand to just about anything, knew he'd be able to make exactly what Helen wanted, whilst Helen along with help from her sisters, was ready to bake up a storm ! They set about making their dream a reality and in the October of 2015, Kettle & Cake and Betty were born.

Betty, originally a tiny four berth touring caravan, built in 1970, arrived with all her original fixtures and fittings, to begin her transformation to what you see today travelling up and down the South Coast.

Removing the original features was sad but the idea was exciting and worth it! All the cupboards were hand built the worktops and sink installed and a serving hatch replaced the window. It was often cold and tiring work for Pat but expert help was always available (from great nephew Spencer).

Once all the main internal fittings had been completed, it was time to set about choosing the colours and decor for the inside space to represent that of a vintage tea room. Betty then required a face lift, at the grand age of 40ish she had a complete external paint job and by January 2016, was ready to make her first appearance.

Betty has already proved to be a huge hit with visitors and the home baked cakes and treats have received many 5* reviews! The overall feedback and support from everyone has been overwhelming in such a short amount of time and Kettle & Cake and Betty are very much looking forward to continuing their journey together.
